Analysis: Will Tesla Have to Delay Cybertruck Production / Launch?

It seems Elon thinks better than I do...or YOU do. And better is different. So not matter what I (YOU) think it isn't how he thinks.
If I look at what he has done through his life then I would say he will decide to build the CYBER along his original timeline.

. They're early enough in the process. In my opinion, what would be a sign is if Tesla's timeline was to break ground on some date and that date slips. Does anyone know what the date is for Tesla to break ground on the new Gigafactory?

You mean construction business is essential .........up to what level.? Essential even if it puts general public in danger?? Unless it is construction for a hospital/ nursing home when people are dying with a pandemic. Use common sense, no one is going to approve of construction for a recreational/ private business when a pandemic is raging.
Gigafactory is an economic installation but is not a critically important national institution that it should continue under such circumstances.
Announcing ground breaking ceremony now is like putting the cart before the horse. Even if they select a location there are several obstacles to pass through, in my humble opinion and they have ample time to decide on ground breaking ceremony afterwards.
As someone said already, it’s quite possible that Elon thinks differently than us, so may be he does have a date in mind, but is unlikely to reveal it now and therefore it’s futile to discuss upon that event at present.

Construction is still going strong no matter what type of business. Permit offices are still "open" and doing business. My firm does work all over the country ( 38 states to be exact). construction has not skipped a beat. Think for a moment about the ramifications down the supply chain if construction stopped entirely, how many different industries feed into "building things".

Either way, as far as we know no location has been selected. I do not feel at this point anything is slowing down for Tesla besides the halt in production in the US.

Tesla hasn't decided on a location for the Cybertruck Gigafactory yet so I'm not sure they have a break ground date planned already. At least not one they've shared publicly.

If Tesla manufactured every single part of the Cybertruck there'd probably be zero delays since the Cybertruck is getting its own factory so it won't have to compete with the other Tesla models for production capacity, but reality is that Tesla will still have to rely on suppliers for certain parts of the Cybertruck and its the suppliers that will likely be backed up once manufacturing resumes after Covid. So it's external reasons and factors that will cause delays.

Seeing that a production factory is still a year out, there shouldn't be too much delay due to construction or suppliers. My only worry is whether Tesla will run out of cash or loans? It's factory footprint is already large with several facilities not finished. We all have our reservation places (mine is near 125,000). I'm dreaming of nearly 3 years from now to take delivery. Happy staying safe at home for right now!

What about starting a single temporary production line at Nevada (or Tent at Fremont) as a test run since there is already space there?

The initial ramp is always slow anyway. It would be a place to work out the kinks and allow for the real ramp at the new factory to hit the ground running at full speed once it opens. Since when has Elon let a small problem get in the way of his goals???

Thanks to how well Tesla has managed to vertically integrate, I think there will be little slowdown overall.

As to suppliers holding up production:

Elon's Team is more than capable of finding and leveraging suppliers into NOT being the weakest link during contract negotiations.

Especially with a new contract with so much potential business for the supplier.

And his people will vet the supplier to reduce the chance that the suppliers are fudging their ability.

So for this NEW vehicle there should be ZERO supply chain issues.

Q1 production stats were just announced by Tesla -- 102,672 vehicles produced!

One thing's for sure, they've gotten the manufacturing process fully figured out at this point. With the Cybertruck being an even simpler design and manufacturing process than the current models, they're gonna be able to crank them out once the new Gigafactory is set up.

With literally billions of dollars of Cybertruck reservations Tesla will find a way. I think they might reach their goal of nearly all robotic truck assembly thanks to the flat SS panels and window glass.

My gut feeling is that production will be delayed as I agree with @Bond007. The world is falling apart and Elon should make his factories work towards fixing it. That will make him more successful rather than the numbers of orders for cyber truck.
