Basics of Crowdfunding
In most jurisdictions, restrictions apply to who can fund a new business and how much they are allowed to contribute. Similar to the restrictions on hedge fundinvesting, these regulations are supposed to protect unsophisticated or non-wealthy investors from putting too much of their savings at risk. Because so many new businesses fail, their investors face a high risk of losing their principal.

How Crowdfunding Works
Crowdfunding has created the opportunity for entrepreneurs to raise hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars from anyone with money to invest. Crowdfunding provides a forum to anyone with an idea to pitch it in front of waiting investors.

One of the more amusing projects to receive funding was from an individual who wanted to create a new potato salad recipe. His fundraising goal was $10, but he raised more than $55,000 from 6,911 backers. Investors can select from hundreds of projects and invest as little as $10. Crowdfunding sites generate revenue from a percentage of the funds raised.

Curious if you have a license from Tesla to do this. If not, I’d be concerned that Tesla and/or Mattel (hot wheels) may have a problem with this.
i was thinking the same thing. i doubt tesla will care but mattel will eventually come down on you with an iron fist. you're competing directly with their toy.

very cool tho. nice work.

Looks awesome! Nice work. Little rich for my blood though. What I've really been waiting for is a non-moterized metal model. Could be a basic 'hot wheels' type thing for <$20, or a nicer model with movable parts in the $30-$60 range (could vary based on how nice it is).

I just want something cool to look at on my desk, not looking to drive it around or drop a ton on it. It's a conversation piece, not a toy. Anything over $100 puts it out of impulse buy range.

The Mattel concern is real. They seem to be dragging their feet on Cybertruck though, so unless their Legal department is better funded than R&D, you're ok. Lol

I guarantee you that the licensing agreement that Mattel has (and paid for) has a clause in there where Tesla is responsible for defending their license. Otherwise, what good is the license. I would expect a cease and desist in 5...4...3...2...

Well yes, that is how license deals work. However, when it is an “artist’s proof” it is usually easy to defend against a cease and desist order as it is “art”. Especially in very limited numbers, like 20. Also, in the few months this is expected to take, it will be done and gone very quickly.
it is also worth noting that, unless Mattel licensed multiple sizes/formats of the Cybertruck, this may not even infringe on their license. It is large scale, motorized and radio-controlled. Seems like a different target market than typical Hot Wheels fare.
it looks great and very well done and while also too rich for my blood (I am saving for a new vehicle I recently put a deposit on) I think it is a waste to run such a limited number.

If I were the maker of this, I would be applying for a license to sell them officially.

It’s a direct competitor. If it were a single one the guy is making for himself, maybe he’d get away with it. He’s making a product that he is selling that directly competes with a licensed product. Risky business.

Risky? I don’t know. Probably he’ll just get a cease and desist order and shut the project down. And since this is a crowdfunding project (yes, I’m familiar) he’ll just keep all the money people “invested” without delivering a single toy.

No disrespect to the model maker - it really is a great interpretation - but £2253 - Really?
Thing is - we all sort of know that when the real street ready cybertruck arrives, its not going to look exactly the same as the prototype.
Worse still - there's going to be established model companies like Burago or Mattel turning out faithful detailed replicas for around $100
Look how good the Mattel Batmobile is - now imagine Batman being replaced by Franz standing beside the Cybertruck with balls in hand

<EDIT> I wrote the above comments, having only read the first page of this thread, didn't realise Mattel was already in a deal to make them - maybe they will include a 1:10 figure of Franz as well ;)

After about 6 months of developing this super realistic scale model, I am ready to share this masterpiece with the Cybertruck community.
I plan to build 20 of these, you may order one here; Order Now

I don’t know, $2k to upgrade my dual motor and add Acceleration Boost or $5k to buy a cool toy. Decisions Decisions.

I sincerely hope that they will come up with fleet pricing as I shall need several hundred for my nationwide de-funded Police fleet.
