I like the idea of a vertical mount in the bed. I don’t know if the height of the tire is too much to close the tonneau for the CT. which will be about 30 to 40 lbs. No way I want to be lifting it over the roof.
That's what I am aiming for. I have in mind an "L" bracket mounted to the deck and also to the forward bulkhead if the side anchor spot is a no-go due to cover conflict. I spec it's gonna be a "wide" L bracket from flat stock or maybe square tubing, something with some mass to it. I am handy with E6010 and a cap pass with 7018 rods. That baby ain't going nowhere and will be locked in place. While I am at it I should go ahead and fab it out of stainless steel in keeping with the overall theme of the vehicle.

Have a different concept, not ready to share yet. Need more concrete information what will be presented or not.
(But I've been in the aircraft/space industry for many years so those ideas will be adapted)

Jeep JK Wrangler owner here -- like the idea of the full spare being mounted on some type of heavy-duty, swing-out, rear-bumper-mounting design (like the Jeep picture above...)

I doubt he'll provide one as model 3 didn't come with one.
And I bought a spare wheel, jack & wheel spanner for my model 3 on E Bay.
No way do I have a truck with no spare wheel. Totally unacceptable to me.
Bad enough on a city car..... On a truck going off-road, won't even think of it.

When offroading with people, I have seen quite a few different spare tire options for Jeeps and other rigs. I looked at reviews for many more when building my dream Wrangler and Gladiator (on paper). Getting one that will hold a 44" Nitto Grappler is not an easy feat.

I have not see that particular one, but unless I really load the bed/Vault down, I will just keep a fullsize spare there. No reason to hang it off the tailgate or bumper.

I don't see the skateboard as completely eliminating space for a spare underneath. Have you seen CYBRTRK next to a Model 3? There's lots of room for batteries, and still plenty leftover for a spare.
I did see something about it's completely smooth underneath for "laminar air flow"- not to mention ground clearance- but that could mean you simply unhook a panel and the spare is clean and dry in it's own compartment.
Pretty sure most if not all states do not require a spare. At least two manufacturers today simply toss in a can of Fix-A-Flat on their lowest price cars.
My 45K Golf R came with Fix-A-Flat... in the US. The Euro version comes with a spare. So I ordered a spare tire kit and put it in my car. Point is, a very not cheap car came with a fix a flat. Also, one of my previous cars, a Mazda RX8 also came with fix a flat. It's not limited to cheap cars.

A truck has the potential to go off road where hazards far beyond those on city streets abound. If I'm going off road I MUST have a spare tire. If I'm going someplace way back in the woods a second spare tire is not necessarily an extravagance.

Almost everyone I know who off-roads has a Hi-Lift...
https://www.carbibles.com/best-off-road-jack/
its a great option for off roading, but its also really dangerous and so this definately not going to be the default way to lift the CT as recommended by tesla (i doubt elon would trust your average joe with that) . another great option would be a hydraulic bottle jack that is much safer and also really compact

Understood.. but brainstorm (lol) not really.. Here's an idea to have Full Spare and Storage.. see image..
Full spare location.jpg

Then it would be nice to have dual function tailgate..

Yep from this image, Spare sounds not provided,
and start figuring where/how to mount, or brace your spare tire.

I don't use the bed, I'd just get a spare tire rack and mount the full size spare and an actual jack on it.
