Tailgate port use?

I was wondering what the tailgate rectangular port will he used for. My guess would be 240v connection and/or air compressor, but would need connection to main body at hinge?

Step or a place to strap stuff to the tailgate...

Good place to hide latches for when it's closed, too. Always try to so more than one thing with a feature ^-^

It's a foot hole to help you step into the bed/vault.

Maybe a release mechanism for the ramp? If that is a step I know I would use it unless I wanted to get out of some honey do's.
