Why would anyone pay to get a reservation, when you can just put one in yourself. Is it just because it would supposedly put you higher on the list?

Can I sell a pre order reservation?

Early reservations for the 3 popped up on Ebay and the like. I'm sure someone would pay. You just have to be willing to change the email address in your Tesla account to the new person. If you already have a Tesla assigned to that account then that won't work too well. Of course your purchase details are in there as well. There may be other ways though.

I know the email transfer angle works because I transferred an early 3 reservation to a family member. I was living in a city apartment at the time my number was called and had nowhere to park it!

Closer to delivery day...reservations become fungible assets. Priorities change. Timing is everything and for some...paying for a delivery date is reasonable, prudent and acceptable way to meet their new reality.

just because you have a low number reservation does not mean you will get your truck sooner than someone with a 200,000 reservation.....If history is any indicator with Tesla it will vastly vary depending on what model you choose and when they will start production of that model.

there are early model y reservations that have still not been filled because they have not released the long range version of the Y yet.

Just a minor correction: They have released LR and Performance versions. The SR versions have not been produced yet. And the 3rd row models.

Reservations with Tesla don't mean jack squat!

Not wise for someone to pay to assume your reservation number. Orders will hardly be filled in chronological sequence. because who gets what when can depend on so many things: the model details, the location, and who knows what else.

After you actually get your truck, though, that's a different matter.

It’s pretty easy to predict what will happen If this economic slump continues through late 2021. Buyer demand will plummet and Tesla will be issuing refunds on the CT. It‘s already happening with the Model Y that they predicted would sell like ice cream on a hot summer day.
