"The recovery of stolen Teslas is notable in an industry where the recovery rate for stolen vehicles was 58.4% in 2016. Tesla had a 100% recovery rate that year."
You'd think that would factor into the cost of theft insurance!
You indicated elsewhere that your concern is trailer weight, not truck-bed carrying capacity.
In one sense there's no practical limit on how heavy a trailer can be -- given the right conditions. Snowy hills differ from dry level concrete -- picture how many rail cars a locomotive can pull on a...
I agree. You probably want just one -- at the front passenger door, given how easy in-and-out is for the X. As for the CT, I haven't ridden in every pickup model but in the many I have, all had grab handles.
Lots of hits if you google "grab handle." You can bring a printout to a mechanic...
Depends on insurance for what. If the CT is hard to steal, theft coverage might be minimal. It's probably liability coverage that's required, and since there's no reason to expect that the CT will hit things and people any more than any other vehicle, that cost should be normal. But...
"Our utility won't let us install more than 5kW."
I'm sure that's 5kW max fed back into the grid. If you feed it direct to something other (like an electric vehicle) I can't see how the utility would know about it, or have a say if it did know.
Haven't studied the depictions that closely but the ones that most impressed me were those that looked like marble or granite slabs. I think there were three such in the samples early in this thread.
The minute my number gets called, I'm off to the wrap world. Even my garage charging connection can wait.
I hope that some major wrap supplier will offer pre-cut material for owners to apply themselves, at least as soon as one of them gets their hands on a CT.
"There will be no price gouging."
Well, ....
What there won't be is bargaining, arguing, fighting. They tell you the price; that's what you will pay.
What there might be are non-negotiable add-ons, like various "fees" such as for delivery, preparation, or paperwork, or extras that are...
"... follow the money and you will find who it really protects."
How much did dealerships donate to Texas law-makers? How much did individual consumers donate?
"He who pays the piper ...."
It's true. But it was no secret when Tesla made its huge investment to the benefit of Texas, so some work-around was likely part of the negotiations. If that falls through, having to sell to Texans though some out-of-state process (or not selling to Texans at all) won't hurt Tesla as long as...
"My initial thoughts on the article were that China was trying to renegotiate the deal they have with Tesla and needed something to bargain with."
Hold onto your initial thoughts.
To put it simply, in Phase 1, Musk puts money into China. Phase 2: Musk starts recouping his huge investment by...
"... handing someone the keys somewhere like at a car wash or valet, seems like the Tesla phone app should allow me to just shut the car down so it cannot go anywhere...."
I wondered about that after reading another current news report -- about the "splitting battery" -- of a Tesla that crashed...
Interesting to me, who spends half his winter tractoring snow. And congrats to that chap for showing that a Y has the traction and the rear connectivity (and the visibility with the camera) for plowing. Thanks for posting.
I'll look again but I don't think it showed how it attached. And I'm...
