I saw a rough calculation saying the trucks should cost about between $25k-40k to build. for materials

I have no idea if this is true but seem logical to me.

8k battery pack
Electronics including motors maybe 8k
Others stuff, body, suspension, wheels cooling another 8k

The more I read the opinions here I think a little paranoia is starting to set in. The posts must be Coming to these conclusions based on the cheaper model price of the single motor variant. Which more than likely won’t be made. When you look at the price of dual and tri motors plus add in FSD plus the ATV plus other options. I believe the vehicle is reasonably priced. Also at the time of unveiling there were some doubts the vehicle demand would be high. The purchase price possibly reflects this.

Unibody construction save alot of money compared to other trucks. As Sandy Munro said, fewer parts is almost always better for lowering the cost, more than any other kind of automation.

The structure of the Cybertruck is much simpler than other trucks, and that's a big difference. The body should be much cheaper to produce than the Y, leaving more room in the price for the battery pack and geegaws.

I’m of the belief that the stated prices have future tech breakthroughs baked in, and that if Tesla made the CT today they could not meet the price and performance thresholds simultaneously.

Also, wasn’t the demo model CT from the reveal basically a Model 3 on a different chassis? If they can borrow as much existing tech as possible, throw in the improved batteries/suspension, and then manufacture a cheaper body, I can see the net total price not moving up or down from what an LR MY costs.
Most likely if it reused a chassis it would have been a Model X's since it already had air suspension and beefier components. But it may have been custom made for production intent and not wholly similar to any other Tesla chassis. Also, it may have been RWD instead of AWD, which is why Tesla chose to do the tug-of-war with the RWD Ford F150.

I agree that reduced costs are likely due to the working in of future battery technology (we will see on Battery Day 2020), no painting, and minimal stamping. Tesla may also be reducing their profit margin on Cybertruck to make it more affordable and appealing to the mass market (Sandy Munro estimated Model 3 to have a 30% profit margin).

The Cybertruck was a dual motor. The frame was as intent, supposedly. I guess the only Ford they had was a RWD?

This is funny, tho:

I think they’ll get there.

Probably not the base model initially(like the previous two models,), but they’ll get there.

They know what they’re doing.

Are the cybertruck specs really achievable for the price listed? if so, why have the other manufacturers not built anything like it? Ram TRX is pretty badass but still doesn't compare and it will be EXPENSIVE. How does Tesla get 3500lbs payload and 16" of ground clearance with air suspension that can drop it to the ground? TRX has a measly 1300lbs payload and 8000lbs towing.
Watch Sandy Monroe's videos on Cybertruck. All will be revealed. He is like Oz of the car world.

cybertrucks towing capability and payload are epic but what distance can it go when maxed Out. I think that is where the fallout will come from with anyone buying it for A commercial Work horse.

If Tesla quoted us a price for single, dual, and tri-motor variants with features as described then I believe they will adhere to/honor those prices. I am most concerned about the suspension after viewing a Sandy Munros discussion of it. It must be something new and that might end up being expensive.

I certainly don’t see the excitement that the CT has garnered when legacy manufacturers release a new version of their vehicles. The only excitement I see is the fake ones in the commercials touting J.D. Powers awards (paid for). A new tailgate?! Eco-boost? Really? That’s exciting? Not impressed. IMO

ECOBOOST motors are junk too! Man.. i cant even begin to tell you how many problems they have. I have swapped plenty of motors and turbos. Huge cost.. and these are well maintained vehicles.
