I'm not opposed to the $7,500 rebate generally. But I am opposed to what I view as calls to game the system to have Tesla get another bite of the apple for the rebate, which I think is a major abuse of the purpose of the rebate system.
I kept my CARES check and would do so again.
I hope that Rivian is successful (and if they go public, I will be buying stock :D) as I view competition in the EV world as important to ensuring quality products and innovation in the short and long term. That said--and this is true for any EV--absent an extensive, nationwide super charger...
Good point/plan.
Note, even then I'm thinking 3-6 years is very optimistic for full fledged authorized use throughout the country, even if the technology is there. I am having a hard time seeing many states authorizing FSD on the road (hope I'm wrong) when most cars won't have the technology...
While I agree with you generally, the problem is that whether such an option will be sanctioned for road use will be a state by state approach in the United States. And I see many states greatly hesitant to approve FDS for widespread use until and unless most of the road fleet (Tesla and...
Same here. From where I stand, FSD won't be road legal in most places for a LONG time. But I added it just in case there are some features that it provides that I couldn't live without. Will almost certainly be canceling it before delivery.
It could become a legitimate money-making business for you if you do it right. That said, I am buying this thing to drive as of the moment. If the business model really is there via a company like Turo (especially when I return to Hawaii and could probably charge even more), however, I would...
That's a good point/question. I would not rent a billboard when we are talking about a luxury car (or anything close to a luxury car). A U-Haul truck truck? Sure. but not a cybertruck.
Moving on, if I could really get $100 a day for a cybertruck via a service like Turo, hell I'd consider...
Greetings, all. New member currently living and stationed in the DC area. I plan to return to Hawaii in mid 2022, so am hoping that I'll have my truck then to ship with me. I imagine that I'd be one of the only people in Hawaii with the truck if I get my wish, which can be a good or bad thing.
The only stories that I've read about this have related to Tesla selling secondhand vehicles that it owned and that it has previously (via internal audit) decided to remove FSD prior to the vehicle being sold. However, there had been instances where headquarters didn't communicate these...
I also hear that location of delivery plays a role. If picking up in Texas (or CA) as an example would mean getting my truck quicker, then I would do so and then drive that beast all the way back to the east coast. I'm hoping (but not at all confident) to have the truck before I PCS back to...
Good post. I'll just add that it wouldn't shock me if states like Texas or Oklahoma would move mountains to make it as easy as possible for Tesla to open up a cybertruck plant (i.e. waive environmental review or greatly reduce the process).
Here's to hoping that production starts on time!
I agree. When I bought my Jeep, I took out a career starter loan from USAA (low interest rate) so that I could use a non-car loan to "pay" down the bill and secure title for myself. I paid cash for the balance. I'll likely do something similar for my cybertruck, which will also come in handy...
