"Tesla is actively demonstrating what relevant differentiation means in a category that has become increasingly commoditized. Steve Jobs famously said, “People don’t know what they want until you show it to them.” Like Jobs’ iPhone, with Tesla, Musk is showing people what they will want, and why...
Is there anything we don't know about battery day? There have been plenty of leaks, patents, and entrail readings.
Elon et al. must certainly be aware of the Osbourne effect so all the info "leaked" would have the effect of having folks wait for after B-day so they could get the better battery...
A CT has been built and Musk shows it off. The "fail" comment was Musk's concerns when it was introduced. Had everyone universally hated the CT then he would design a traditional truck. But folks think it is cool and nearly a million folks will be driving them in the next few or "several"...
"Keep in mind that the 500 miles range for the TriMotor was calculated with the new battery technology "priced in"
This is something I also believe. If Tesla contacts reservation holders next year or so and tell them the CT is actually 20-40% more expensive than originally advertised or range...
When listening to Musk it was my impression that "fail" was the initial public reaction. Tesla has not indicated that they are NOT going into production, in Austin, with the CT. Research? on pre-orders? Does anyone recall passing along personal financial info when making a reservation?
There...
The gauge and hardness of the SS used on the CT exoskeleton may vary. Elon mentioned bulletproof door panels (1/4 -1/2 hard work hardened 11 ga. 304L SS) but the underlying frame would be Annealed and stamped/welded and perhaps thinner gauges. There are some close up pictures around the...
To Elon, who is part of the Tesla decision making process for planning tera-factories etc. "Several" may represent worst case demand for the CT (cancellations, people buying competing trucks from Rivian/lordstown/etc, economic depression, aliens become our overlords and we live in hives...)...
I got the impression that the CT as currently known is probably a few components shy of a production vehicle and some appear to be ugly exterior things like side mirrors and windshield wipers. Wouldn't want to upset the Franz (like telling him to make the CT 5% smaller) but there will be some...
I am reminded of something my dad told us about his childhood. He had to walk in the snow to school and back and both ways were uphill. We had it easy!
conversely, pumping (work-energy) electrons through a conductor can create a magnetic field that pushes or pulls on a magnet.

Regenerative braking uses the kinetic energy of the vehicle to generate electrical energy using the motors and this...
In my business ethics class we learned that corporations fundamentally follow two rules:
1. Maximize profits for shareholders.
2. Obey the law.
#2 is political.
Another observation about engineers: They are people and some are easily daunted and fearful while some just say "hold my beer".
A fearless engineer can be a foolish dreamer and gets easily irked when going through risk analysis exercises.
That is why it is good to be the CEO with billions.
just my opinion but when Elon mentioned level 5 this or next year it was like a baby announcement. The baby needs to learn but it is a level 5 baby not a level 2 baby. This will be an interesting topic in a few years, until then keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheels.
We live in a mixed system which is part capitalist and socialist. Most of the protests are NOT related to socialism vs capitalism but something that is at the core of America: all mankind created equal. I think there is a Norman Rockwell painting for that as well. Tesla is not a regressive...
They would need to build more to refine the design and tweak the manufacturing methods. Plus there will need to be vehicles for crash testing and environmental testing. The tooling that ultimately is installed in Austin will be based on what they currently use albeit much more of it.
I think...
Reflections of the cameras and the A/B pillars. When the vault tambour(cover) is covering the vault the darkness in the vault turns that rear window into a mirror.
I was trying to figure out if the tambour blocked the view in the vault through the window when the tambour was covering the...
that is a great Idea. having the versatility to plug in both side would also allow the wall connector to be installed where it makes sense in many garages. A dual tesla garage would not have a wall connector installed in the center of the garage.
