Cybertruck Tires

One of the test drive videos identified Goodyear tires on the truck. The Motor Trend article generically said 35s. Has anyone been able to figure out what type and size? Just curious about the cost to replace them.

You take budgeting very serious if you’re planning replacement tires. Far too early to tell, as these are probably one-off concept tires.

Tires are GoodYear Wrangler MT-R with Kevlar treads on custom carcasses. Probably 35x12 in size.

I heard in one of the drive videos the wheels themselves are from Australia.

35 x 12.5 x 18s I believe. It's a pretty standard size for the aftermarket 4X4 crowd to upgrade to. Plenty of access for suppliers.

I know this is early, but someone suggest to Elon to put Falken Wildpeak A/T3's on the truck -- best all-terrain tire that I've run on my Jeep JK Wrangler. Being in Houston, the Wildpeaks are EXCELLENT in the rain. And they'll save some weight vs the Goodyears being shown (that's a guess...)

The Cybertruck would be my first EV. I’ve read EVs can eat through tires due to their increased weight along with other things. Since the CT tires look big (and expensive) I’m wondering what their potential lifetime would work out to be. Anyone with an electric vehicle out there that can speak to this?

Early EVs used very special, small, high pressure tires with reduced tread depth. They had to do this because batteries were so bad that this was the only way to achieve any kind of range. Many swapped to normal tires anyway, reporting anywhere from 10 to 15 percent range decrease.

Batteries are no longer so bad. Now normal tires, with normal longevity, can be used.

Now it is ludicrous mode that will wear out your tires.

I have one of the first Model 3's and I had to replace tires at 30K. I have had quite a few off road trucks and jeeps with 35's and 37's. They all seem to go pretty quick as they tend to be soft rubber. The weight of this beast should eat through tires pretty quick.

The “spare” may be plugs and an air hose. Would cover the majority of flats.

I have had great luck with Toyo ATII tires which are rated at 65K miles , last set I get 100K rotating every 5K miles

Covering the majority of flats isn’t good enough for me. I bought a car that came with a can of fix-a-flat instead of a spare and within a month I had a sidewalk blowout deep in the Navajo reservation. Fix kit was useless. I had to hike up a hill just to get reception, and then AAA told me there were no available tows. I had to leave the car overnight, and I would have been stranded too if my friend didn’t drive an hour out to get me. Next thing I did was buy a spare on eBay to carry with me.

All that to say, I want a spare with me at all times. Especially in an off-roader that is meant to go to remote locations.
