Just so the right hand drive reservation holders don’t slow down the production of the CT in Texas, this is assuming there will be a right hand version, and with Honda pulling out of the U.K. and Europe to return all manufacturing of their cars back to their own country there will be an empty factory in Swindon by the end of 2021.

With the news today that Honda have now stopped production because of parts delivery issues with the eu maybe they will close it earlier than planned.
There are at least two large transport companies based in Europe that have now stopped transporting goods to the U.K. supposedly over red tape and it’s these companies that have stopped the supply chain of parts to the Honda factory.

I’m assuming the right hand drive market of the CT or even the Wolverine model wouldn’t be as large as the left hand drive version so a smaller facility could possibly handle these, plus I’m sure there’s a good deal to be done with the U.K. government and a ready made skilled workforce looking for work.

I know there were rumours of a U.K. Tesla factory back last summer which was supposed to be near to me in the Southwest near Bridgewater but those rumours seem to have died a death.

Anyone have a direct line to Elon?

That's the advantage of having your own currency and trade deals. You just need to take advantage of the arbitrage.

But for the next couple years, it'll be painful.

Honda pulled out for a reason and the supply chain is interrupted by the red tape that is not magically going away. Tesla has highly automated factories (less need for a specialised work force) and very specialised tools to produce its cars and I would guess building a new plant is even quicker than refurbishing an old, "traditional style" factory. The benefit of having it in the UK would be to produce in the market for the market, but given the challenges in the supply chain I think it would be easier to produce somewhere in Europe with the supply chain intact and then only deal with the red tape once to export the finished car.
Also typically right hand drive and left hand drive car versions differ less and less nowadays, and that is even more true for an electric car where they say eventually they just take out the steering wheel and pedals when FSD is done (ok was a remark about the model 3 but hey).
A factory in Europe would be able to produce RHD and LHD versions and so serve not only the UK but Europe as a whole and so covering a bigger market with less issues.
