IT IS THE ACTUAL PURCHASE PRICE! He says this at the unveiling!

Yes indeed. These folks should watch the unveiling again... Elon literally says "That's the price without any incentives, the actual economics are even better than that"

Come on people, learn how to obsess about something...

Read the Tesla contract they gave you if you per-ordered the truck. price is set and final price is dependent on ordered options taxes, delivery fees, etc. There will be no surprises. Price is not this Saving Price, but MSRP. At least this is how I read the contract.

Speaking of potential savings...

My plan was to buy the CT in about 2 years. Trade in our current SUV. But here’s another scenario I’ve been toying with.

I could trade in the SUV and buy a Model Y now. Then trade the Y in when my CT is ready. Yes, the Y will depreciate, but so will my current car. And I’m eligible for a $5k rebate on the Y in my state, which helps mitigate some of the additional depreciation. Every time I run the numbers it come out even.

Oh, and that’s without adding in 2 years worth of gas savings (about $2k more).

The only big downside I see is that the Y is a little small for my family.
The MY is pretty big on the inside. I wouldn't try to put 2 carseats in the back but if your kids don't need car seats, the Y is pretty decent. I have 3 girls still at home (though the College Junior needs to find her own place...) and the MY is a bit tight for 5 of us. Though there is plenty of storage for a trip with 5, there isn't really enough elbow room. I wouldn't even consider adding the 3rd row... you'd lose all your storage space back there and they'd definitely have to be facing backwards... No Bueno.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm going to pass on the idea. I feel confident I could make it work financially, might even come out ahead. But I have some kids that are older teens/young adults and I don't want to send them a message that it's a good idea to buy a new car every couple years.

Do not see anything bad here. I like change cars every 6-8 months, if they can make enough, what’s the problem? My father had his VW caravella for 15 years and was not able to switch it. I grew up in a poor family, but life changes instantly. I am making enough right now to try every car i want, therefore i change them more often than my shoes. Unfortunately, my dad does not need a car anymore. I would love to by new cars for him... appreciate every day you have, every moment you live, tomorrow can not happen :(

I don’t. There’s a lot of people out there that have zero concept of the savings that go along with driving a EV so while the upfront cost is a little higher the operating costs outweigh that IMO. I would rather have it this way than all the other sneaky ways that traditional dealers screw you over. Even in these days.....“we know that you need a new vehicle so we will let you skip payments for 90 days or we will take ___ off the price of the vehicle“. Since we are talking trucks here...when a manufacturer can take $11k off the price of a new truck then you start to realize just how much money that they are making anyway on each vehicle. I am fine with seeing the estimated gas savings but don’t rely on it solely to consider a purchase. But hey, that’s just me.
You are correct sir

Dont forget about all the experiences you could be missing out on by not getting the MY. My parents are getting older and I want them to experience and remember riding in a Tesla before passing on. Not the greatest example but you get it
