Surge protection?

Forgive the newbie question, but seeing as we’ve had some violent thunderstorms with serious lightning including some neighborhood property damage, should I be concerned about surges if I leave the Cybertruck plugged in charging nightly?

I don't really worry about it, but some people unplug their EVs from the EVSE equipment when they will have a storm. You can also have an electrician install a whole house surge protector in your electrical panel https://www.electricianmentor.com/best-whole-house-surge-protector-reviews/

Whole House TVSS is a great idea if you can afford it.

Otherwise, I wonder who would pay for the repairs?
Home owners insurance or Vehicle Insurance?

Clearly any EVSE you buy will have some sort of surge suppression built in and the car itself should have additional but there are, of course, limits to what these protective measures can handle.

You can't blame Tesla for a lightening strike so I would imagine in the case of damage that it would be covered by home owners insurance but I would (if I worried about such things) make sure the homeowners policy didn't exclude lightening as an "act of god".
