If I had bought the Model 3 (Ops, sorry - it was a Model Y) the price with FSD was $60k. Sales tax in Texas is 6.25% on new cars, so I would loose $2250 in sales tax (value of Volvo) + depreciation (expected) + $8,000 for the FSD which I was told belonged to the owner; not to the vehicle. I have not seen any policy with Tesla that once you own the FSD software "license" that you can carry it with you to the next vehicle. I assume, unless otherwise stated, that you have to buy FSD again on your next vehicle. So I was faced with having to pay and extra $2200 in sales tax, loosing $8000 to use FSD for the one year I planned to drive the Model Y + depreciation. I felt $10,200 + $5 - 7k depreciation for one year of MY ownership was a bit much. I am still anxiously awaiting my Cybertruck which has a order # around 30,000 - so hopefully I will see one about a year from now.

Cheers for having the patience... I made a near opposite deal in financing an SR+ to grant me sanity over the likely next 2 years minimum (being 400K+ in line, accounting for some people cancelling, potential fluctuation in Giga Austin, any legalese bureaucracy, etc.), taking delivery next wee - whilst burying dollars to save for CT in meanwhile ^^;;;

Regardless, you made the right decision to wait. Financially it made little sense to trade a one year old car in for a new Y, only to trade that one in again for your Cybertruck in 1 more year. If you have money to burn it does not matter. Going by your posts that is not your position. We’ll chalk that up to Tesla Fever. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning if you have another fever spike. Hold fast, Cybertruck is coming.

I was offered $41,500 for my 2018 28,000 mile long range RWD red Model 3. Clean condition with FSD but 18" aeros. I thought this was good and took it.

Apparently, my CT order made me a candidate for the local Tesla sales guy to call me and ask if I was interested in taking an M3 test drive while I wait for the CT. He was suggesting an M3 lease might be interesting. LOL. Unfortunately for him, I'm working to save for the CT pretty exclusively. All my current vehicles are full paid-up so there would be no real incentive to take on a lease right now.

Smart man! I'm doing the same. As an aside, I leased a Toyota Avalon once and when the 3 year lease was up, they wouldn't let me buy it and charged for every fly speck on it. I bought another new one. Learned my lesson about leasing!
