Let's be honest - who disliked and/or was repulsed by the Cybertruck when they first saw it?

I'll proudly raise my hand that I, like many, thought it was a joke when it first rolled on stage during the live reveal. Didn't like it much at all at first...and honestly can say I thought it looked like dog$hit...but it grew on me throughout the event.

Now I can say that in addition to it growing on me each and every time I see a picture or video, I'm super glad I did my preorder the moment the preorder address flashed on the screen.

My first thought was "is this really happening?!" I have never seen a company reveal something with that extreme of a design, as the reveal went on I fell in love with more than just its looks. Then he dropped the price and I realized I can actually afford to own it!

Not at all. I was surprised but not repulsed. Having said that, I'm probably far more utilitarian then most. I don't care what it looks like as long as it works and functions as it should. So I'm all in for good functional design and appearance is a distant second. I really don't mind the way it looks at all. My biggest concern with the design is access into the bed from the sides of the truck.

I thought when it rolled out it was a joke and the real one was coming out next. It took me about month of thinking about it to realize it was brilliant. I’m pretty sure I’m one of those that needed to rewire my brain on what a truck can be and not what it should look like. Very excited about Now!

I commented on this before but yes I must say I was initially....disappointed with the looks, not the specs/price, that was amazing. It took me a good month of pulling it up on my screen every other day and it grew on me. Then one day I preordered it and told my wife. Her response was 'Good! I was wondering why you didn't order it right away'.....

I am most surprised something as different as this is going to be an affordable vehicle and not a prohibitively expensive limited production type model.

I hope it does well. I have my reservation and I am seriously considering buying it.

My wife said it may be ahead of its time but our country is not ready for something that looks like this yet.

I hope they become just common enough after they have been out a year or two as not to draw too much attention. If they are still causing rubbernecking in my area when I am able to purchase, then I will have to think long and hard if I actually complete my purchase.

HAHA it seriously looks fake every time i see it in photos or videos, like its not real and Tesla just CGI the whole thing. Its gonna become an even more iconic vehicle once people start taking delivery. I cant wait!

My Fiancée still doesn't like the looks, but she knows I would be stupid to buy any other vehicle. Basically everything makes her excited except the way it looks, But I can already see her posing with it for Instagram or whatever.

Initially was a little unsure, which is why I didn't jump right in... but now, it makes all other pickups (including my Ram EcoDiesel) look dated. After I saw the estimated time until my Tri-Motor would be delivered, I thought about switching to a Rivian, but now it just doesn't look 'cool' or 'fresh'... just an old fashioned body style with a new drivetrain.

I figure most truck people are, aside from the often-unsaid want to look tough, want to actually be tough. Good specs at a good price. They're often willing to make their trucks look downright goofy with mods to make them do what they want - whether they actually do it or not is their business.

So I'm certain if the Cybertruck is all it says it is, then it will become the new default. The dream is the utility, not the looks.

Especially if it does it at 2/3 to 1/2 the price of the others.

That sums me up too. My wife had a similar reaction when I showed her the first time. She literally LOLed. But she is all in on the stainless steel utilitarianism of it now. When you look through the lens of function it looks smart instead of weird.

If anything it looked interesting from the get go; I am about functionality. My only thoughts were "stainless steel" and "500 miles". After that my hands navigated themselves to the 'buy" button.
