Latest Info on Tesla's Million-Mile Battery Which May Power the Cybertruck

Take the latest rumor about 2 million mile battery from the synergy from different battery improvements (chemistry, dry electrolyte, etc)... if this turns out to be true, then the batery pack will actually last longer than the drivetrain and suspension components. Even commercial fleet operators would have a tough time racking up enough recharge cycles before the electric motors wear out.

But, I am not so sure I would believe those rumors.

Me too, but there are lots of things I’d like to believe that will never happen. I prefer to get my rumors from the source. All this other stuff just makes me nervous...waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak.

Todays news reporting that GM is now close to a million mile battery and yesterday GM was reporting self driving as super cruise....seems they are really trying hard to stay relevant. I’ll gladly stick with Tesla.

I would still want a powerwall. During the sunniest part of the day my Tesla would not be home. I’d need a PW to store the power until I get back.

Also, if im not mistaken, the power wall has different cell chemistry. It is designed to be charged and discharged differently from Tesla vehicles. So its optimized for solar energy storage. The vehicles battery cells are not.

I believe the thought is that the new battery chemistry is designed to perform both functions better than the two battery chemistries currently do their specialized jobs.

It was a 2 million KM battery, 1.25 million MI battery (still impressive). That is, if you were talking about the CATL announcement.

Some very interesting reading on this subject, many decades ago can't remember exactly when but, I seen a article on GM's future transportation ideas. It showed a type of skateboard containing batteries and motors. The idea was that you could purchase a vehicle and when your needs changed you could simply change the body. Back when I seen this article it just was not realistic, no battery was even close to power density or cycle life.
Elon has achieved 1 million motors and drive trains with this battery technology, this could change the way we see personal transportation. A battery power that can delivery 1 millions miles
could change you economic position. How many vehicles did you buy because the old one is failing or it just can't serve the need? I wish when I was younger and bought my first new car it had a power plant that was worthy of 1 million miles. The car long ago was traded in for a change in my life but if I had a power source in it that could go in my next car it would saved me a limited resource, money. I think today if I had a transferable battery it would of have around 750,000 miles on it.
I know my travels are higher then most but, I also I know of folks that do much more. I also own my vehicles much longer then most, I need personal transport but not every 3-11 years. I do this to keep my " limited resource" in the bank for later use. I roughly guess I could of save over 75K dollars (low guesstimate) over the years.
If Elon decides to put a battery from CATL in Cybertruck, please send it up my way. I have some experience with LiFePO4 batteries, I have no concerns about power density of this battery, yes it's heavier but I don't plan on carrying it around Cybertruck
can easily have another 300Kg in weight (not completely sure of weight difference) I think I seen a estimate weight of a dual motor at 3000Kg so another 300Kg no big thing just range and longevity increase. Whatever battery Elon's team decide to use in Cybertruck I hope it's a 1 million battery, bet my son's will like it.

Imagine a battery that doesn't degrade like the batteries today, one that you can cycle twice a day for the next 20 years.
connect this mobile battery to the grid as a buffer, that's what is missing with all that stupid solar farms and windmills.

Imagine to earn money by connecting it to the Grid as a buffer, Tesla takes care of the usage and the billing, you can tell them do what you want but I need 150 miles tomorrow morning

Imagine that you can rent this battery for a small fee and give Tesla the promise to connect it to the Grid whenever possible, you don't care about how much it costs the wear of the battery, the more or less only thing that degrades on a ct is the battery, and imagine the price for a ct less the battery
The battery is the only thing with lots of possible improvements to do, and one that is cheaper and lasts longer is the better one.

Imagine that the battery-charger could run in the opposite direction, Jack Rickard from EVTV said something, that the M3 battery-charger could run as an inverter and supply AC current it's just a question of Software. With this technology, all you need is a cheap EVSE like a destination charger to connect the ct to the grid and act like energy source.

i just want OFF of the grid...ridiculously unreliable and subject to the whims of the public service commission who is OWNED by the electric utility here...
