Looks like Non-Skid tape applied to the ramp so it's not a "Slip-N-Slide" but a firm step surface.

If the solar option can maintain the durability Tesla mentioned, yes. I think Elon said the tonneau cover would be strong enough that it could be walked on. I like the idea of being independent of the grid, but strength of the tonneau should be priority. Maybe Tesla will have 2 seperate roll up doors for the Vault?, one for durability, one dedicated for solar charging.

I like the idea of solar. Here is some math using a common solar tool we use in the sector called PV Watts. Assuming that the solar cover over the vault is approximately 2.5 square meters (26.9 square feet), and that the cover will be based on amorphous thin film solar (likely deposited on a metal or plastic substrate), the cover would have a nameplate rating of approximately 375 Watts. Where I live in British Columbia ,this works out to only 362 kWh/year of energy [or enough to drive 1820 km [1092 miles] assuming 5 km/kWh. In Scottsdale, Arizona, the yield would be 601 kWh/year for 3000 km [1800 miles] of extra range.

Solar panels on the tailgate and the side storage panels would require that you open everything up and expose all your storage to the public while getting the additional solar rays. Not worth the risk of exposing your storage and truck bed for a few more rays.

Living in Costa Rica (plan to drive/ship the Cybertruck down from the US) with plenty of sunshine, I am definitively signing up for the solar option. Even 10 km/day would make me grid-independent. Even though electricity here is from fully renewable sources, the electricity rate is quite expensive (north of 30 cents/KWh for marginal consumption). Solar is more important to me than FSD, even though I signed up for that under the illusion that self-driving in the narrow and chaotic roads of Latin America will be feasible one day!

In the right place at the right time with the truck parked oriented in the right direction and on a grade of the right tilt you might indeed get 15 mi free energy in a day. There will be other days when all the conditions are not optimum on which you will get appreciably less than that. But if one doesn't care about capital costs then 1 mile is a mile of free driving. But then if one doesn't care about capital costs the sensible thing to do is put solar panels on the roof of the house and get free electricity for everything including driving.

I want it, but I want to see what the wings Musky mentioned look like. I'll use it for work so free miles will add up, especially if I can go a few days without charging due to the truck sitting idle during the weekend or even recharging while driving.

Phantom drain is from about 6 to perhaps 20 mi per day (Sentry mode on). The solar roof might cover that so you could, for example, leave it at the airport for a week or two.

Live in WA state and have a home solar array already. It has proven its worth in our "neck of the woods" and I know what to expect from an array. Certainly, efficiency vs. price is a concern but I'm up for considering it when Tesla announces the final 3 motor version specs. Will keep everyone posted as I learn more.

I reside in Lower Alabama on the Gulf Coast and do not feel it will pay to play, even with plenty of sunshine here I will charge off the grid. Not important enough for me to always having to be mindful of which compass direction I am pointed when I park at work.
