Talk about disappointing. 23mpg. No plug for EV only driving. The only interesting thing about the new F150’s is the onboard power outlets capable of 7kw.

and the hideaway gear shifter is hilarious. Just put it back on the column!

23mpg and a tiny 1.5kwh battery...eek. I also thought it was funny how to claimed they totally reworked the outside and not a single body panel was reused from the last generation. If that's true, why does it look like a carbon copy of the last one lol! How many millions did they spend on tooling to accomplish that?

Also, the gear shifter thing was pretty funny. They decided to add an extra moving part and unnecessary complexity just to get the shifter out of the way when there are so many other ways to do a shifter. Put it on the column, put it in a rotary dial on the dash, do anything but what they did haha.

that is a terrible center console layout. The shifter looks so bad it's like something out of 1980.

I'm curious about thoughts of people on here. EV is less equipment, less parts to service or replace than ICE. Isn't hybrid even more parts and more complicated than ICE?

Actually Ford and Ram have gotten tons of feedback that their customers hate the rotary shifter, Ram I believe is also ditching this. I didnt mind it too much in the Laramie I drove but definitely prefer the regular style shifter so this is Ford’s work around.

The sleeper seats are a pretty neat idea though ...I hope the CT interior has decent storage like the current Ram and the new Ford.

Yes. This is the main thing that stopped me from buying a hybrid Highlander. It was going to take about 10 years for the gas savings to pay back the added cost. And one breakdown in the hybrid system would extend that 10 years to 100.

On the new F-150 they are really pushing the flat work space in the center console. It looks like a good idea on the surface, but as a person who used to work out of truck I can say it's too low for me. No one wants to work off a surface at seat level. It will just cause you to have to lean way over. I would still end up holding the laptop... on the top of my lap.

It seems like a strange combination they decided on.
Advertise 10 mile ev range. Ok cool better than nothing.
EDIT...I might have been reading g the wrong article ignore this haha
but this requires a bigger motor and batteries then just regular hybrid like a prius. You cant plug in so you will be recharging via the gas engine, weird. Cant really use it to tow, it might help a bit I guess. More complexity for little gain it seems.

The EcoBoost engine is a good system though. But it is Kind of a cop out for emissions, as in real world the turbos are up and running all the time. This seems to be along the sam lines as that. Another patch on a patch.

it is more complicated to have a hybrid system but there are a couple benefits. Aside from added fuel efficiency you get extended life from your brake pads (regen braking) and no belts under the hood as all auxiliary devices can be electrically operated, This would have been groundbreaking on a 2010 F150 but in 2020 this is just embarrassing. Cybertruck can’t come soon enough.

OMG, look at the crap Ford is trying to compete with, for an onboard generator. At the very end of the article it mentions that the gas engine has to be running to get power. HAHAHA that sounds intelligent, use your truck engine as a generator! "Using two conventional 12-volt batteries in addition to the standard battery". Hmmm, every 36-48 months, go buy new batteries? BUT, this made me think how awesome the Cybertruck sytem will be for me. I'll probably have a mini fridge mounted in the back. Who knows maybe a TV on a swivel mount attached to the inside of the L-Track? You can buy a nice, 32" smart TV for $120. Cybertruck can't come fast enough!

Instead of having the low cost of EV drivetrain only.......Hum why don't we complicate things by adding an ICE motor too! Then we'll have all the old maintenance and upkeep costs along with being both complicated and compromised by pairing EV features to it....... What could possibly go wrong over the long run?

I am still Cybertruck, but I like what ford is doing up to 700 miles on a tank of fuel with a lot of accessories in the 30k-70k range. Cybertruck will be my first EV dual motor at 50k with no upgrades Yet and a 300 mile range it just seems restricted. I can fill a fuel tank in 10 minutes and don’t have to keep stopping and extending a trip time and going thru the anxiety of possibly not making it to the next charge station. I think all the Cybertruck versions should get the 500 mile battery and the increase should have been Based on the amount of motors you wanted even if the base models cost was a little more. again what do I know it will be my first EV. I do know one thing I like to get to where ever I’m going. And the more I read and research it seems like there is alot to be concerned about just driving down the road and attaching a trailer Will suck the life out of your power etc..... I don’t think this will be the work truck that is being anticipated, I see it more as a local sports car truck.

Also maintenance and up keep most of the vehicles I have bought I have just had to change the oil and the dealers take care of the first 10. And tires I have had to pay for and I’m reading the tires on an EV WONT LAST AS LONG. And it looks like the auto insurance on the cybertruck will trump maintenance on a ICE VEHICLE. again anyone what are the plus reasons going EV

^-- I saw the cybertruck in person last weekend. It's fkn' badass, and its worth it. Yes insurance will be high, range will be shorter than a gas truck, but it's damn cool. will supposedly last 1 million miles. no maintainance, high resell value, looks futuristic...and can pull a f150... and you'll be able to pick up and pack as many hoes as you want... the garden tools that is..
