  1. Broken windows? Yes please

I commute into Houston on a daily basis. I've seen enough flooding in the last few years to know it doesn't take long to fill up a road or even a freeway with water coming over the roof of a vehicle. If you do an internet image search for "Houston Harvey freeway flooding" you'll see a few...
  2. Broken windows? Yes please

Floating would be cool, like the old VW bugs, heh. O the windshield can be tough as steel. It's the side windows I want to escape from. On a related note, my 9-yr old grandson wanted to know why I had scissors in my glove box. That's to let us cut the seat belts in case the mechanisms jam...
  3. The Single Pane of Tesla

Thank you for the post and info. I recently moved north of Houston after being flooded out in '16, '17, and almost again in the summer of '18. Dealing with power loss was a major immediate issue as I sheltered in place in '17. My F150's gas engine was my power generator for my phone and...
  4. Post your Cybertruck preorder reservation number!

Hi thank you for the assist on the spreadsheet. The holiday week kept me busy, ha. I got the confirmation email from Tesla on 18-dec-2019 at 2:22 pm CST

  6. Broken windows? Yes please

Haha true. Like my beat up F150 usually gets ample room in parking lots because people assume I am trouble. However I would hate to explain to my daughter that I died because I couldn't kick the CT windows out from the inside and had no assistant available to throw steel balls at the windows.
  7. Broken windows? Yes please

The media had a fun time with the broken window incident. However, I would personally like windows that are not nearly unbreakable. Here is a link to an article that covers the topic quite well. I'm interested in thoughts by others here also. Please chime in with your ideas and feedback...
  8. Cybertruck Insurance Cost: Factors to Consider

From my State Farm agent: "It is too far in the future for pricing, but I have many Tesla SUV’s and autos covered. The tend to be a little more to insure that a regular vehicle, but not too high. We would insure this truck just like any other vehicle coverage. "
  9. Cybertruck Insurance Cost: Factors to Consider

When I get info back from my auto insurance agent I'll share it here too.
  10. What is the re-usability of the truck once it's been in a collision?

Agreed on the insurance and logic you provided around that idea. A colleague mentioned to me today about Tesla's auto insurance programme. Quite interesting and exciting really. My questions aren't to find out how to make do on as little maintenance cost as possible. If that was my intent then...
  11. What is the re-usability of the truck once it's been in a collision?

Fair enough and I appreciate the input on scrapping the vehicle's body parts. It looks like my concern about leaving loads of these littering the future's landscape isn't a big concern. But say I'm in a not-so-serious accident in an intersection that whacks the vehicle around pretty hard. It's...
  12. Battery replacement and power upgrades over time?

Agreed on not being able to self-repair modern vehicles. That's not something I'm aiming to do. I don't do the repair & replacement of parts on my F150 today. My question and concern is specific to battery replacement and the CT's compatibility with upgraded power sources. When the original...
  13. Battery replacement and power upgrades over time?

When I decided to purchase a very used truck for an extremely modest price ($2k) I was experimenting with the cost of parts replacement vs buying new under warranty. So far that experiment has paid off. I took on the risk because I knew parts were plentiful and not extremely expensive. For many...
  14. Cybertruck is Eternal?... The last vehicle you ever need to purchase?

I've a 1997 F150 that I plan to drive daily for the next year or two. It has 406k+ miles on it today. Over the last 10 years of ownership I've had most major parts replaced. Thankfully all but a few parts are still available. For those that are no longer manufactured, the mech had to do...
  15. Will you use Cybertruck as a daily driver? What are you trading in?

Daily driver. My commute is about 120 miles a day on one of the most-used freeways in Texas, so safety and comfort is huge for me. Once I roll my 1997 F150 to 500k miles in the next year or so I'll retire it for light duty work and will be shopping for a new daily ride.
  16. What is the re-usability of the truck once it's been in a collision?

I'm thinking we could leverage Delorean users and track records regarding repairs, like the sites I link to below. Deloreans are different however in that they used a standard body-on-frame and not an exoskeleton like the CT. https://store.delorean.com/t-faq.aspx#stainlessrepairs...
  17. Battery replacement and power upgrades over time?

Thank you @Devix . My goal is to keep my vehicles for as long as possible. My 1997 F150 just rolled over 406k miles this morning. I've had it since '09 when it had 212k miles on it. I fully intend to keep a CT (if I get one) past the 400k/8 yr mark. Replacing the battery is going to...
  18. Battery replacement and power upgrades over time?

Hi all, I'm not yet convinced to sign up for one of these yet. I've a number of questions. This topic is on battery replacement and power upgrades over time. The batteries will eventually fail over time. That's expected and is no different than replacing a starter battery in a fossil fuel...
  19. What is the re-usability of the truck once it's been in a collision?

Hi all, I'm not yet convinced to sign up for one of these yet. I've a number of questions. This topic is on re-usability of the truck once it's been in a collision. Has anyone seen specs or details - or have any experience in working on repairs to the stainless steel material used for this...
