Ahhh... So for remote over-landing I'll have to look into GMRS and FRS. Even when I drive back to Nebraska on the interstate there are pockets where cell phones cannot connect. And the original homestead in NE still doesn't have reliable cell coverage.
One of the things I really like about the CT is the impregnable (to an extent) cab. Keeping firearms out of sight is important. But also, I'd like to be able to haul something with the tonneau cover open and still not have a fire-arm container being seen/investigated. I'll probably have to wait...
Air horn
Speaking of truck stuff from when I was a kid, it was a thing back then to get truckers to blow their air-horns. An air-horn might actually be nice on a CT. Could also be used as an extra-loud beacon for emergency situations too.
I can imagine a group of CT's being led by a CT with a large flag pole and group-specific flag attached. Imagine a tour group of CT's running around through traffic if they all had group flags... Easier to find in traffic.
Not so good for the mileage I'm sure but would be interesting to see...
Cool to see another Husker!
I've been reading up on CT and dreaming of what all I want to do with it. Ideally, with Starlink I'd be able to pretty much roam the country in my CT and still be able to work periodically through that remote connection. I'd love to take my kids out for treks across...
That is a good use for under-body illumination. I'm guessing they won't last long for those who want to go off-roading though. Perhaps a better solution, in that case, would be lighting under the doors that light up when the doors are opened. That way, while driving the lights are protected but...
Wikipedia even has an entry... I guess they are a cultural item now:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truck_nuts
Normally I see them hanging from a tow hitch but this is configuration is also seen.
OK, need to circle the wagons and put in a fire pit at the center. Imagine this campsite on the Oregon Trail. Would actually be cool to see on the TransAmTrail.
So I just saw this quote from another thread here.
So I was wondering what normal ICE truck accessories/features people are expecting/wanting to add to their CT.
I am originally from Nebraska and I know that a gun rack and/or an under-dash gun safe for a pistol would be nearly expected. I'll...
I get a different impression from Elon regarding what Tesla is trying to do. Maybe I'm just being manipulated by marketing BS but it seems like Elon's main goal is more about saving the planet than reducing end user costs. But in order to save the planet he needs to get everyone switched over to...
Just read this from Electrek:
https://electrek.co/2020/09/24/tesla-sentry-mode-amazons-ring-usb-hub/
Ideally, instead of a separate piece of Ring hardware, Tesla would just enable us to enter some settings as to where we want to upload sentry mode videos. From what I understand Tesla already...
I really like the classic look and 3 wheel electric motor setup of the nobe. I’d have to see it in person and probably take a test drive before ordering one though. But I do love the three wheel design commuter vehicle setup.
Before CT I was hoping that Aptera would finally get their vehicle...
I’d think that after this long of a setup for that joke that it would be extra gratifying to see the joke referenced more often. Every time I see the non-S3XY ordering I end up stopping to reorder in my head and giggle about the punchline ordering before continuing. So maybe the other orders are...
I get that is how the wireless carriers want it because they charge per device. But if your Tesla vehicle is a single device and sentry mode data is just part of the data it publishes then there shouldn’t need to be a separate connection. The reason there are 2 devices here is because Ring is...
Just read this from Electrek:
https://electrek.co/2020/09/24/tesla-sentry-mode-amazons-ring-usb-hub/
Seems like the Ring integration uses its own LTE connection to upload Sentry mode video. So that means the user needs to pay for a monthly wireless connection for Ring beyond the probable...
I was just reading this article from Ele
https://electrek.co/2020/09/24/tesla-sentry-mode-amazons-ring-usb-hub/
They quote what looks like a Ring marketing release as:
“The first compatible vehicles for Ring Car Connect are Tesla models 3, X, S, and Y.”
I’m curious if most publications use...
I remember reading a number of years back that space x was using Ethernet for rocket internal communications because it was cheap and the risks of reliability could be mitigated by redundant systems. So clearly EM has a history of saving $$ by using Ethernet. If Tesla is not using Ethernet in...
one of the things I’m so looking forward to in getting my CT is off road trips all over the country. I’ve been watching lots lately c videos by current off roaders and they often mention being able to charge at hotels along a route.
Combine that with California’s announcement that they will be...
I am wondering what changes will happen to the power wall given the new battery tech that was announced.
It would be cool if powerwalls could be upgraded to be able to charge a CT with the same speed as a supercharger. I know that people talk about slow charging at home like that is always the...
