We'll keep our Odyssey (wife needs a grocery getter), but now we'll have two vehicles that can carry our family of 6. The CT will be our go-to for family outings, road trips, camping, etc.
Yes, very cool idea but crazy expensive. Currently, EVs are just not great for towing. An additional 100 kwh battery might only give you 100 miles of range while towing a trailer. Depending what you are trying to accomplish (maybe a camping road trip?) it's still not super practical.
Where I...
Didn't Elon say they are making cars to a "commercial vehicle standard" or something along those lines? That makes me think of buses and semis which routinely get over a million miles, get powertrains rebuilt, and go for another million.
Anyway I'm hoping this is the case as it helps me...
Was Elon referring to the dual motor CT? What would be the weight different with tri-motor? I'm thinking another few hundred pounds for the motor plus a few hundred for the larger battery - so likely over 6,000 lbs for tri-motor config. Payload capacity is truly impressive.
Also, as you add...
Well at least when driving your CT you won't have to worry about .22 bullets anymore!
But seriously, vandalism has crossed my mind as well. My advice:
1) park in a garage at night
2) get vandalism insurance
3) don't shop at Walmart
