Black or silver?
Or will you get what is available first?

Hmm I wonder what it does to price and time line. Also I bet the black version is a later release. Definitely going stainless though.

How would black finish be done? Paint on regular steel? Stainless can't be painted. Hopefully not oxide on stainless like an appliance. That looks like crap when it gets scratched. Plain brushed stainless steel for me. No paint or dings to worry about is a big selling point for me. Also the look of a brushed stainless car is really cool...have loved it since I saw my first delorean as a kid.

Yes, "black stainless" is typically a black oxide electrochemical coating added, unless CT uses a different process.
The CT as revealed didn't seem to be brushed, rather it looked raw or mildly polished.
As you mentioned, the DeLorean was brushed. It came that way from the factory. Owners can blend away minor scratches "following the grain" with a special 80 grit blending pad.

would prefer matte black. Unless it costs 501 more dollars than nude.

At this time, I'm going with stainless steel, bushed finish - maybe it will include passivization. Any coating will be a surface finish and can get scratched to the point that you'll see the unfinished stainless beneath. I like the low maintenance of the plain stainless steel.

Yes Stainless can be painted. Many have painted their Delorians.

Might as well get a Model S and modify the trunk into a bed. And be careful where you park, someone might ding the paint job.
