Yep, we know you did it. I did it.
How do you see your friends, family, and strangers really reacting to YOU when you drive your Tesla Utility Vehicle?

I am not to worried about what joe public thinks of me. I drive what I want to because I want to. I do like talking to others who are interested in my vehicles.
as for family, my oldest brother is a true Alberta Oil Worker, working up in Fort Mac in the oil/tar sands. At Christmas it started out with “You would pay money for that ugly thing” to “I am going to have to look at it, not for a work truck but would be great on my days off”.

I work for a company that deals in oil drilling and mining industries.... I often wonder what they will think when I park the cybertruck in our lot

Wow, that's going to be a bit of sticky situation for you. I think by then the oil companies, and employee's will see the writing on the walls, and realize that oil is on it's way out. Not sure what the reaction will be, so I suggest keeping sentry mode on all the time. :)

Over the holidays, I was catching major ridicule/grief from the naysayers when I told them about my CT reservation...However, during one of the last heated arguments, I was floored when Wifey jumped into the conversation/discussion and said, "...he's not trading in the Jeep; we're trading in the Jetta, and I'm driving the CyberTruck..."

I asked her later, and she said she was serious...I drove in complete silence the remainder of the way back home...

Reserving a CT the day after reveal = PRICELESS : later finding out Wifey now wants CT to be hers = WTF???

Already this has offered some insight I did not think of. I thought people would own up to really loving the idea of being identified as being the kind of guy that got a Tesla Utility Vehicle.
I have to admit that I already identify with what the Tesla Utility Vehicle is,. And I love what it is and how it was created/engineered. How it was created is precisely how I think things should be engineered. Define the goals, and engineer a machine to achieve them. Then think about the design, but do not compromise the engineering.
I hated the look. I still do. I don't like the bed at all. But I understand it is function over form, and I am ecstatic it is what it is. honest.

I recall someone, somewhere signing all his posts with "Consider the intelligence of the average American and then ponder that half the population is dumber than that." There is bound to be some negative reaction. There already is. Guys have posted accounts of being berated in their Teslas and told to go buy an American car.

I refuse to call the Tesla Truck such a poorly chosen misnomer.
It does so much more than be a truck, and the only cyber connection is with the comic drawings, not anything actually having anything to do with cyber.
I think it would be better to call it Swiss Army Knife Vehicle. It practically does everything. It really isn't a truck. It is a very well-made Hatchback that does everything.

In my social sphere, the following reactions:
1. Too expensive (anything over 18,000 is too expensive) These are friends who drive compacts
2. Sister, does not follow automotive, excited, when will you get it. (Would be equally excited over a new toaster)
3. Nephews and son, cool, can I drive it?
4. Core friends, awesome, you drive the next scuba trip, they also like the design and function
5. Wife, OK... does not follow automotive, when will I get a new car? (You just got a new car two years ago)
6. Me, instead like for design, read specs and price, pulled trigger. My nature is not to be the first with technology or models, even with the repairs in earlier models and reported bad customer service, Tesla has built trust in their motors, batteries, commitment to repair issues and the drive to push the envelope.

The friends who know me, would predict I would purchase the CT. Preferring to be behind the curtains for a smooth operation instead of in front of curtains performing, does not matter about other opinions to me On the truck. I anticipate being happy with the vehicle except one day a month when I send the payment in.

Projected ownership, 20+ years, 10 as daily driver and auto drive 70 miles round trip, Monday through Friday in the 405 traffic. (With legroom and the top of my head not touching the roof)

You can call it "pigeon pie" if you like but will need to understand that to most people it is clearly a truck and as most people understand" that "cyber" means "of, relating to, or involving computers or computer networks (such as the Internet)" they won't be having any trouble with term. You could call it a "current transformer" or a computed tomograph to yourself to yourself but abbreviate when you mention it in a post and everyone will know what you are talking about.

I have had a wide variety of responses as well. Girlfriend cant wait for me to get it. Dad loves it and considering it himself. Mom hates it, but she also doesnt like vehicle payment of any kind. Brother, who is definitely into being considerate of products' impact was oddly, very vocally against it, stating, " not only is it ugly but who needs to go 0-60 in 2.9 seconds?!" My response was, if it can do it without putting gas in that vehicle, why not go that fast?!

My friends are a mixed bag, but most of them will come around once they experience it. I am going to have a lot of test drives to give!

IDGAF what anyone thinks. Once i get it i will proceed to use it to show everyone it is superior in every way. I will be a walking talking Tesla advertisement. The fact that it looks so weird (BEAUTIFUL) will start conversations with everyone. I am going to make everyone who bought any other type of truck cry because they threw there money away. Gas prices HA! oil changes HA! slow and weak HA! All the puny half tons will bow down ?
