so what does "ordering" a truck mean? you put down $X as a deposit for each and if you decide on just one you don't get the deposit back for the other two, or are you getting all three versions?

I want 2, 1 for me one for either my son or "office truck" I will be keeping all 3 reservations (not sure why) but will most likely loose my deposit on the 3rd or maybe transfer it to a friend.

Thanks Broccoli2.
As far as which one they will make first; It sounds like the highest models will be first:

I found this on another web site that states this is at the bottom of the pre-order page"
"You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in late 2021. Tri Motor AWD production is expected to begin in late 2022. "

That to me reads that production of the lower models will be in late 2021 and high end (tri motor) will be in late 2022. Similar to model 3

I'm not familiar with the Tesla ordering system, but I read it as the ordering configurations can be solidified in late 2021 and the tri-motor would begin production in 2022. Thanks for the clarification.

I believe the dual motor will be the first one to hit the market. Infrastructure and logistics won’t have challenges as Tesla has previously experienced. The late 2021 deadline should be met, provided DOT approval on a few things doesn’t delay manufacturing.

if they follow the pattern of the model 3, the RWD single motor variant will be first, then the DM and TM afterwards.

I thought the tri-motor would be the first run

We don't know which truck will be ready first. Presumably, the most expensive models, as that's been Tesla's pattern.

Originally, it was the single motor first, tri-motor last; but clearly a large number of orders were for it. So it has been suggested the tri-motor will be first instead.

It doesn't really matter, as Tesla usually tries to upsell reservation holders when their numbers come up, no matter which version they have reserved.

Although this is true, the original ordering was single motor first and then they announced that the tri motor would be first. The original date deliveries would begin was late 2021 and on battery day @elonmusk said only a few would be available in late 2021 with more in 2022.

As of today's date, Tesla states the Tri-Motor production will start in late 2021.
