Well, Bloomberg said so, but never released the specific evidence it said it collected in the public filings.

No one else has independently verified this, it's all the same, single article.

But there have been plans for battery chemistry sources in the state, and Tesla sources lithium from all over. With the new, smaller footprint battery factories, they could be anywhere. They need alot of them.

Tesla said back on battery day that they planned to make 4680 cells in Austin, for the Cybertruck, but not where. It only made/makes sense that they would make them at Giga Austin, but what makes sense can be far from fact. Today the quad squad claims to have ‘inside’ and ‘reliable’ intel that the northwest section of Giga Austin will be set aside for manufacturing 4680 cells. To me those quotes mean it is heresay unless and until I know the qualification of those claims. Is the source a designer or senior manager? Have they seen the design plans? Or just scuttlebutt from someone further down the food chain? I certainly hope the claims are correct because, as I say, it makes sense to me. Time will tell.

If a Tesla employee at the site provided the intelligence then (a) that’s great and (b) saying so would have shut [skeptics like] me up. I don’t need names but unverified rumors seem ubiquitous in the Tesla community and get old.
