Dubai Police's next supercar: Tesla Cybertruck
The Tesla vehicle looks like a metallic trapezoid and its exterior is made from the same metal used for SpaceX rockets
27 Nov 2019
The next supercar to be added to the fleet of Dubai Police’s luxury vehicles is set to be a Tesla Cybertruck.
The authority shared an image of the newly unveiled pickup on Twitter with the caption: “#CyberTruck Dubai Police – 2020”.
It had announced on Monday the addition of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S to its fleet of luxury patrol cars, capable of a top speed of 315km/hr.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said the new car will help enhance security presence in tourist destinations, such as the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Jumeirah Beach Residence and La Mer.
Other supercars in the fleet include an Aston Martin One-77, a Bentley Continental GT, a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari FF, Lamborghini Aventador and more.
As for the Cybertruck, it is unclear when it will be added to the Dubai Police fleet, but Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on Monday that the car which was revealed last week had already received 200,000 orders despite its embarrassing debut when its “bulletproof” windows shattered during a showcase of its alleged durability.
The vehicle, which has a starting price of $39,900, looks like a metallic trapezoid and its exterior is made from newly developed stainless steel, the same metal kind that's used for SpaceX rockets, according to Musk.
He also claimed the Cybertruck is more capable of towing and hauling than a Ford F-150, with the ability to tow up to 14,000 pounds, and is a better sports car than the Porsche 911.
