How about two solar Tonneau covers. One that covers the back, and one that goes the opposite direction, that can cover the roof area, and when stopped the front glass... It could be called the batmobile (or riot) mode, and it should add two to three times the energy. Seems like it would be easy enough to do, to have two tracks, as long as there is enough room under the seat, to roll up the second tanneau cover. I would pay a lot for that.

It might be more practical to integrate photovoltaic into the roof glass like the new Fisker

Another player is Lightyear. They claim that you can pick up 12 km in an hour's charging. This is quite a claim and putting some numbers to it implies that the car is bigger than it appears, has panels that are a lot more efficient than the current technology usually allows, has a Wh/mi rating that is much lower than seems reasonable for a 3000 lb vehicle or some combination of the above.

Or if storage is an issue you could at least have another track with the option to roll the single cover fore or aft. This would be useful when camping (when the solar would be most useful) since most campers will require that the vault cover be retracted.
