  1. The cost of driving an EV?

I had panels installed last year; enough to cover roughly 70% of my total annual usage (I'll come up with real calculations in June). Something else to bear in mind is that these costs are almost entirely a one-time cost that produces electricity for 25+ years. Most panels I looked at were...
  2. Will the Cybertruck fit in automated Car Washes?

I have never peeked under my bed liner... Let's hope this is a non-issue in about 12-18 months. Calculator estimates my delivery to be October 2022 (I ordered next day). I'm hopeful that's an under-estimate/over-achieve situation...
  3. Will the Cybertruck fit in automated Car Washes?

Unless that's the objective! :) My Tacoma has two pencil-diameter drain holes close to the cab and water flows under the tailgate easily. The drains close to the cab constantly clog up with debris, so I hope that's something the CT will handle better in cases where water does get into the bed.
  4. Will the Cybertruck fit in automated Car Washes?

If an F-150 fits, then a Cybertruck will fit. I've seen plenty of Chevys, Rams, and Fords going into our local wash. I'll probably look more into real, actual DIY detailing kits and washes. I mean, I have a child. He's gotta have something to do.
  5. Elon Musk Was Just in the Studio and Says Final Cybertruck Design is Looking ?

They have to start ordering machines at some point given the factory is going up. I admit, I'm ignorant to this process, but I would assume that, as a percentage, we would have to be getting close to 100% (95%? 92%? 99%?) since they're getting closer and closer to sinking costs, as agile as...
  6. Can Tesla Cybertruck Actually Stop Bullets? Technical Analysis by a Firearms Instructor [** NO POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS **]

No politics here but some of the things that happened earlier this year certainly had a much more wild, wild west feel to them. This thread is focused on fear, really. So my hope is that folks around here are impressed with the vehicle and want to learn more. I'll welcome those conversations. I...
  7. Can Tesla Cybertruck Actually Stop Bullets? Technical Analysis by a Firearms Instructor [** NO POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS **]

I'm not sure I'd let one incident deter me unless it was extreme. But if my wife isn't comfortable riding along with me because my vehicle is a target? That's a quality of life concern.
  8. Can Tesla Cybertruck Actually Stop Bullets? Technical Analysis by a Firearms Instructor [** NO POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS **]

I live in Kentucky. This is the single scariest possibility that I've considered - many times - since ordering my Cybertruck. I know this area extremely well and here there be crazies. Sad to say, but if it does become an issue, I won't keep the truck. The safety of my family will far outweigh...
  9. Elon Reconfirms Production Cybertruck Will be Around 3% Smaller. Factory Delivery / Pick Up Will Be Available!

They may be competing with themselves for the same limited resource. If the Tri takes more cells (whether double-stacked or not) to get to 500mi range, then it stands to reason that they could hit higher delivery targets on the Dual up front. If cells == miles, then they could make 5 Dual for...
  10. Why Startups (and Tesla) Will Struggle with Electric Pick Ups

I'm not much of a brand loyalist, but I am pretty deterred by both Ford and GM. I might consider a RAM EV after Sandy Munro's review of all three ICE versions. I live in a rural community and I would guess that about 50%+ of vehicles on our roads are pickups. I would guess that 9/10 pickups...
  11. Why Startups (and Tesla) Will Struggle with Electric Pick Ups

Except they don't own or operate those stores. Dealers usually privately owned and operated (franchise or franchise-like). Dealers are more Ford's customers than we are. Having worked with franchise orgs, it's pretty evident where their mindset is when they bring in GOBS of franchise owners and...
  12. Tesla Cybertruck warthog would be a ‘dream collab’ for Xbox executive

Would I buy one? No way. Would I salivate at the thought of seeing one and sitting in it. !@#$ YES.
  13. World's biggest die casting machine

Same. Looks like the inlet (I'm sure there's a term for it) point on the casting breaking off. Where they inject the metal for the cast. Like injection molded plastic parts.
  14. Elon Musk Interview: 1-on-1 with Sandy Munro (Woah!)

I also want to point out that my SS kitchen sink does not dent or rust...
  15. Elon Musk Interview: 1-on-1 with Sandy Munro (Woah!)

This was my biggest takeaway, too. Folks had speculated that issues like paint and panel gaps might be due to the aging Fremont factory. If the Tesla team is aware of issues and setting up Austin as a greenfield redo using the lessons of the past, then that makes me VERY happy as a CT...
  16. Elon Musk Interview: 1-on-1 with Sandy Munro (Woah!)

Nice! Thanks for posting a summary. (y)
  17. Elon Musk Interview: 1-on-1 with Sandy Munro (Woah!)

Wow. Everyone will want to watch this. Summary by @CyberOwl Cybertruck takeaways... Number one...Aviod the ramp! Skip paint, source of fit/finish issues Expect amazing seats FSD is mind blowing FSD primary objective don't crash/don't get tricked Single piece casting...eventually(maybe) Shear...
  18. I Think Cybertruck Manufacturing Run Will be Short Lived

All good points. Around my area, we've got a number of trucks that are set up to burn HEAVY amounts of diesel in order to "roll coal" at other drivers. I have doubts that there's any functional reason to do so and, yes, I think they do that to look tough. Lift kits (and drop kits) are legit...
  19. I Think Cybertruck Manufacturing Run Will be Short Lived

Similar - I had to move a 17-foot aluminum canoe and figure out how to do it without a roof rack. What a pain, but thankfully a one-time in my case. Here's the screencap of a rack concept from the unveil - there are plenty more concepts in a quick Google search. I think with the "squat" mode...
