that is a terrible center console layout. The shifter looks so bad it's like something out of 1980.
As someone who drives a 1980s f150.... No.... Back then it was on the steering column (for automatic) or on the floor (standard which is what I have). The shifter in the 2021 f150 is more reminiscent of 2000-2010 cars (not trucks). This is probably the worst adaptation of a console shifter ever in any type of vehicle.

Actually Ford and Ram have gotten tons of feedback that their customers hate the rotary shifter, Ram I believe is also ditching this. I didnt mind it too much in the Laramie I drove but definitely prefer the regular style shifter so this is Ford’s work around.

The sleeper seats are a pretty neat idea though ...I hope the CT interior has decent storage like the current Ram and the new Ford.
Hey I'm liking the 'Sleeper Seats' too...but not sure if you can have front sleeper seats and the mid-gate with fold down rear seats in the same configuration?

I hear range is king, but what's the tipping point. Balance is something sorely missed in this country lately, I have a hard time understanding why people think they need the ability to drive over 400 miles without a refill. For a roadtrip it seems like 5 hours is the limit I'd want to go without a stop. 75mph x 5=375. I guess if you have a long daily commute it would be nice to have the ability to not have to stop for gas only once a week. But 700 miles, 36 gallons a week? Even at $2.50 a gal. your talking about $70 a week, close to $300 a month. Damn, talk about supporting the oil companies. I've seen estimates of 4cents a mile for the Cybertruck. That would work out to $112 a month. Hmmm, with the ability to fill up at home nightly, you really don't need that kind of range. NOW, if only the batteries could charge faster on a road trip!

^-- I saw the cybertruck in person last weekend. It's fkn' badass, and its worth it. Yes insurance will be high, range will be shorter than a gas truck, but it's damn cool. will supposedly last 1 million miles. no maintainance, high resell value, looks futuristic...and can pull a f150... and you'll be able to pick up and pack as many hoes as you want... the garden tools that is..
Funny but could Hoes be spelled, "Ho's" for clarity? Haw!:ROFLMAO:

Instead of having the low cost of EV drivetrain only.......Hum why don't we complicate things by adding an ICE motor too! Then we'll have all the old maintenance and upkeep costs along with being both complicated and compromised by pairing EV features to it....... What could possibly go wrong over the long run?
Yeah - now why would anyone willingly PAY for the complexity and potential liabilities of TWO power sources? Plus the added complexity of the switching mechanism in between to blend them optimally during driving?

Sorry, for me it's always been simplest is best if it gets the job done. And a pure EV actually already gets the job done better than any ICE or hybrid, while being simpler than either. For example, just count up the moving parts... ???

Now I keep seeing articles trying to compare the F-150 to the Cybertruck, makes me chuckle every time. Best they can come up with is the fact that the F-150 can go 700miles on a tank of gas.. whoop de doo.. that really means nothing to me. I really expected more from Ford with the hybrid. Can’t wait to see what a big turd the EV version is gonna be.

I'm curious about thoughts of people on here. EV is less equipment, less parts to service or replace than ICE. Isn't hybrid even more parts and more complicated than ICE?
Totally agree, hybrid is one more thing to go wrong on top of all the other systems in an ICE vehicle

The feature that intrigues me most is the stainless body, with all the engineering that went into the new F150, I could still scratch it the first day by barely brushing up against it, crazy the time and effort it takes keeping paint in good shape

Also maintenance and up keep most of the vehicles I have bought I have just had to change the oil and the dealers take care of the first 10. And tires I have had to pay for and I’m reading the tires on an EV WONT LAST AS LONG. And it looks like the auto insurance on the cybertruck will trump maintenance on a ICE VEHICLE. again anyone what are the plus reasons going EV
well..... the insurance agent i spoke with said EV insurance is cheaper than ICE and as for the tires - are you serious? EV is superior technology. ICE is soooooo 20th century.

Agreed. Ford should be embarrassed.

I wonder how many of these they'll sell, after already announcing their upcoming EV truck...?

Their EV pickup that might be a year or so later? Ford has talked about an EV truck for 5 years that I recall - and this hybrid joke is all they show for it? ....it smacks of desperation.

Range is king, while time and accessibility to fuel up is a secondary but mandatory consideration. I don't own different vehicle for different purposes. I've found it's usually not economical taking into account the purchase cost of an additional vehicle, the maintenance for the additional vehicle and the insurance for the additional vehicle. My truck is my daily commuter, road tripper, camping, hunting vehicle. Range really isn't that important if you're buying an EV just for the daily commute. But if it's your everything vehicle it's very important. The 500 mile range in the tri-motor Cybertruck is basically the minimum EV range I would consider for an everything truck.

Taking that into account, I would not write off the F150 hybrid. I get that it's not a mind blowing improvement over what is currently available and I haven't seen a price yet, but I think it's safe to assume it will be in the $60k neighborhood at the King Ranch level, (which is the lowest trim with the available lay flat seats...which I really really like.) and if you assume the F150 hybrid is as capable as every other 1/2 ton currently available (so it meets your needs...unless you NEED to go 0-60 in 2.9 seconds) and if the Cybertruck cost to insure is basically a wash vs typical ICE truck gas cost, then what is the next criteria to use? 700 miles of range and a 15 minute 100% fill time at readily available fill stations vs 500 miles of range and what...45-60 minute 75% fill time at limited locations (I don't know if that's accurate for the Cybertruck)?

I know the criteria is debatable and what is important to one person, another person may not care about, but to me, these trucks and their price vs convenience, capability and costs is worth discussing. I'm a prior F250 owner and current F150 owner who put down an early deposit on a tri-motor Cybertruck. I'm looking forward to the release of info on the electric F150 and I'll end up with one of these in the next few years. I'll choose the one that meets my needs (4x4 or AWD with at least 500 miles of range and at least a 6.5' bed with at least a extended cab) and makes the best economic sense to me. There are a ton of things I LOVE about the Cybertruck. But the 500 miles of range still gives me a little anxiety when it comes to hunting trips and it would be an annoyance on road trips. I think I can make it work, but more range at the same price would be better. Until then, ICE is still a competitor. Especially when they're going further from full to E for less cost to own up front.

Please let me know the name of the insurance company.
(I believe it has something to do with states that don’t have a lot of Tesla’s, in Alabama where I currently live There are less than 500 I believe it’s like also I listen to the all Tesla podcast (Ride The Lightning) a lot of Tesla owners complain about how fast the tires wear out and not just because of the HP

please let me know the name of the insurance co. In Alabama where I current live there are less than 500 Tesla’s in the state. You have to purchase one outside of the state. So as I heard Elon mention on ride the lightning podcast, insurance companies charge a premium because of the unknown with Tesla vehicles And he talked about insuring Teslas thru out the United States. Which would be great. Also the longevity of the tires was something I heard owners complain about on ride the lightning podcast
